It would be perfect if: our Macbook Pro is registered on my husbands name, so I got the App on his name… But then I want to add the pict of the inventory using my iphone and it doesnt work. It doesnt find any inventory lists. Second thing what makes this my purchase totally unusefull is that when I add value or price of my inventory it automatically ads local currency, which is Reais (we at the moment live in Brazil). But are moving to Germany and most our purchases are made in Europe. I think it MUST be a possibility to decide what currency to use. Thats why I bought this App: for my use and for possibility to use the reports for our insurance. So, people, who working on the App: please, do this possibility to choose the currency!!! if not I would like to get my MONEY BACK! What regarding just english language: it doesnt disturb me. I can still write the items in German.

Purchased this App, and associated (Free) als for IPhone 5. I like it but probably would not use it do to its inflexibility. Basically needs to have a lot more thought put into it… 1. Labels need to be user configurable 2. International Date support….i.e entered a date in European Format it apperad in US Format! 3. Guess major language coverage would be useful 4. Insurance Categories are US Focussed, again abaility to customise labels-categories would solve issue. 5. When adding a new items why cant Warranty information be included (currently is a separate tab) 6. Need to expand information that can be entered in the Policy item tab (again could enter more on one screen as opposed to having to open a seperate tab) Overall a good programm but needs to be reworked for the European Market

These morons are claiming that you can get the new “Remote Entry” for “iPhone, iPod and iPad”, but when you try to install it on iPhone it tells you it’s only available for iPad. And the old “Photo Remote” doesn’t work with the new Home Inventory. For me this is the last nail in the coffin of HI… a good idea badly done and never improved to what it could have been…

This application hardly get’s updated and Binary Formation does not listen to it’s users. The synchronisation process is terrible. Multiple currencies are not supported, you have to create a whole new library to get that. There are great alternatives on the app store, that will give you more flexible customization features. This app once received an award by Apple, so what happens is they rest on their laurels. Unbelievable! 19 January 2015 - Still no multiple currencies supported!

As a professional Photograher I need to keep track of my gear for insurance purposes. I purchased this app with the expectation of allowing convenient management of my equipment, replacement values, photos, and serial numbers. Home Inventory has more than exceeded my expectations. With seamless syncing to my iPhone I can enter all the information on the computer, then walk around the house with the iPhone taking photos which are automatically filed with the appropriate items. Its Magic! Not to mention one-click backup to Mobile Me! This program is a must have.

I love this app and wish I had it when I first moved abroad 4 years ago. I needed a detailed inventory for Customs and used an Excel spreadsheet which worked, but couldnt include photos or receipts without becoming unmanageably large. This application allowed me to import my existing information from that spreadsheet, and sort it so that when we moved again, we could easily print off an inventory for both our movers and Customs officials. We also were able to identify which items were going into storage and which items we would ship to our vacation home. In both instances, Customs officials took one look at the printed inventory report and waved our containers through without any holdups. We have also been able to review our home owners content insurance policies at a glance to know whether we are covered sufficiently and what high-ticket items we need to include separately, including serial numbers. I cant recommend this program enough. It may take a while to input everything initially, but once done, it is a breeze to keep up as you buy or sell items for/from your home.

This app is now so simple and pleasant to use that I no longer have any excuse to avoid finishing the inventory of our large and jam-packed home. I started our inventory using the previous version, which looked a lot less polished than it was. It worked well, maybe as well as this new version, but it was enough of an aesthetic drag to be offputting, especialy to someone like me, who tends to procrastinate. The recent update stole away my last excuse, because the graphical improvements made it look as easy and intuitive-to-use as it is. I dont normally enjoy making lists. With this app, I now do. That is an achievement worth celebrating so, developers of this thing, accept my thanks.

Half the stuff I enter just disappears; I enter the info, upload a picture, then the info. screen goes blank yet the info comes up when I double-click to edit it. However, despite saving it, I lose everything I just entered. I wasted over an hour filling stuff in then lost it all. Complete waste of my money and time, hopefully Apple will refund my money.

Update: I’ve been using this app for almost 3 years now and my opinion hasn’t changed. It’s still awesome This application has hit the sweet spot for me. I didn’t need any instructions, just dove in. Inventory is almost done with photos etc that were a cynch to move from iPhoto. Over the years ive tried different approaches, apps but had given up. Dont know how I stumbled on this app but i am really glad I did. And, there is a companion ios app that allows you to backup. And from the ios device, you can view the items if needed. $20 buck well spent.

This is not only the best home inventory software available on any platform, it’s one of the most useful and well thought-out apps I’ve ever used. The developers continue to add useful improvements. It turns the potential drudgery of creating a home inventory into an enjoyable task. I tried to switch from the Mac to Windows last year and Home Inventory is one of the main reasons I decided to abandon that plan and come back to the Mac. It’s that good.

Have been using this app for a month now and the more I use it the more I’m impressed. When you combine the app with the free Home Inventory Remote Entry helper app for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch you have a dynamic duo that makes building your inventory a snap. The built in reporting works great and is simple to use. If you need a home inventory this is the app to get !!

Beautiful piece of software. I ran into an issue with the free iPhone Photo Remote app where it wasnt able to connect to Home Inventory due to my firewall setting. Sent a note to the developer on a Saturday and got a detailed reply on the same day with instructions on how to fix the issue. Worked beautifully after that.

Great app! Now I can sort out all of our household in one place. I was looking for something like this. Although I hope that the program will be continuously developed and updated.

I purchased this app because it’s written you can add customized field but it was not specified the limit. So unfortunately, only 10 fields can be added to all categories (not 10 field per category, but 10 in total) which can be very frustrating when you pay 17€ and you need to create a personalised inventory. This is is unacceptable; for the other thing of the app…itt’s ok

I’ve just started playing with the new update and the remote photo entry with the voice activation. Wow! I am totally impressed and will probably finally get my inventory done, as this makes it really easy. The only thing that would make this even better is a lookup for prices based on the item name, as I don’t remember what I paid for stuff years ago. Other than that I have no worries or qualms with this new version. Great Job!!!

This application was indispensible in helping me file an insurance claim after a significant water damage event at my house. I would never have been able to create a report of the lost items so quickly. I went through my inventory, added a tag to each lost item, and generated a comprehensive report based on that tag. It couldn’t have been easier. The new Inbox feature is great. I also love the Remote Entry feature.

Attesting to Excellent support— should you actually need it. I had set up this app several years ago, just to be responsible about organizing my assets, and to help with remembering maintenance/replacement dates. And then with the bad New England 2015 winter damage, it really came to my rescue for providing ready backup to support claims to my insurance company. It is such a good feeling to know everything is in one place and easily maintained. However, the real test of any essential app is the level of support when you most need it. I am glad to report that support here is EXCELLENT. Beyond my expectations. Last Thursday I opened my file to find it lost. Took me till Friday late afternoon I get up energy to finally fill out that dreaded form explaining my problem, expecting --as experience with so many other software companies--at least a week of robo replies before getting a real person. However I was so wrong!. That evening I received a personal response from the owner, who actually had read my details. Within a couple more email exchanges, with him giving me clear instructions on tests, he had my solution and it was all recovered. Record time. I am so glad I chose this app, this company. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

I’ve had this wonderful app for about a year and a half, and find that it’s one of the best I have - if not *the* best. And while the app is terrific, the online support is even better. I’ve had to contact them twice, with a problem that was caused by a computer issue unrelated to the app itself. Both times, the response was quick, helpful and friendly (directly from one of the two owners of the company - a husband/wife team)… and the easy solution corrected the situation. If you value your home and possessions, and love the feeling of having everything cleanly organized, please get this app.

I have recently (October 2016) purchased this program and have found it to be everything I had hoped. It is very intuitive and has all the features I could ask for. I was up and running almost instantly and have not run into any issues at all. I especially like that the user manual was so easily accessible right from within the program. It’s 132 pages of well- written information on how to use all the features of this amazing program. Another bonus is the ability to set a backup location to back up my file to an external drive each time I add new information b y simply selecting the Back Up Now option. How easy is that! I love the flexibility of being able to customize/add locations and categories……and also the ability to add not only pictures (multiples for each item if you want), but also the ability to add receipts, warranties, etc. All of this is so easy to do, I am sure I will have my home inventory completed more quickly than I anticipated. Of course, after I had entered a few items, I just had to take a look at the included reports. There are so many options! IF that wasn’t enough, I just discoverd that I can rearrange the fields and even add up to 10 custom fields. Lastly, I had a question about the size capacity of the program, so I contacted customer support. I received a vey quick, thorough, and courteous response. I am 100% satisfied with my purchase.
