Wonderful App!
This app fills a niche that I didnt know I needed, until after I bought it! Yes it cost a little bit of money, but what decent application can you get for free that is as well rounded as this one, that doesnt inundate you with ads and micro transactions? None!
So why does this app fill a niche that I didnt know I needed? Simple… I own a home, and never really even thought more than a passing glance that I should create some form of personal inventory of everything we own, so that in the case of an emergency (god forbid), wed be prepared to quickly and effectively provide documentation and other miscellaneous information to the insurance company and quickly get back on our feet. After coming across Home Inventory, I knew I needed to get it!
The process is simple, and the new version recently released makes it even simpler. I create a house, configure it with my insurance policy information, configure the number of rooms, add items to each room to fill them up with inventory, and finally add miscellaneous information and pictures to each item so that theyre easier to identify and prove in the case of a loss. Thats it! From that point, I can quickly run reports, check values, and see pictures of everything I own, giving me a quick and effective overview of our entire lifes possessions. Easy!
There are a ton more features, including the ability to add other documents (receipts, warranty information, etc.) to help keep better track of things. For me personally, I dont have a need for such things, as I keep all of my documents, receipts and warranty information inside of another program on another computer. However, if youd like to have everything all in one easy to find spot, Home Inventory does provide a wonderful opportunity to do so!
Even better, Home Inventory also syncs with DropBox! How cool is that? Not only is all of the data there in one application, but if my laptop burns up, I can quickly restore my entire database onto another computer in an instant. BAM! Its a simple thing, but an often-overlooked one. And in the case of a fire in your home that destroys everything, I would assume it to be quite common that such a fire would also destroy the very computer that you have Home Inventory configured on. As such, without a DropBox backup sync, your data would be lost!
Bottom line - buy Home Inventory! For the price, its well worth all the functionality and effeciency it gives you!
